A B2B ecommerce platform for a wholesale brand costs anywhere from about €50 a month for a dedicated B2B ordering portal to more than €2,000 a month for Shopify Plus or an enterprise suite, before implementation. Marketplaces charge no subscription but take a cut of each order, and a custom-built portal starts in the tens of thousands of euros.

The monthly fee is rarely the full story, though. Integrations, extra apps, per-user fees, payment fees and the hours your team spends typing in orders often decide what wholesale software really costs you. In this guide, we break down the pricing models, what each type of B2B ecommerce platform costs in 2026, the hidden costs to plan for, and how to work out whether it pays for itself.

All prices are starting prices excluding VAT, taken from each vendor's own website in October 2026. If you're still choosing a platform, start with our comparison of the best B2B ecommerce platforms for wholesale brands.

B2B ecommerce pricing models explained

Two platforms with the same monthly price can end up costing very different amounts, depending on how they charge. These are the five pricing models you'll come across.

Flat monthly subscription

You pay a fixed fee per month or year, usually in tiers by features. It's the easiest model to budget for. Check what the entry tier leaves out: integrations, the number of customers or catalogs, and sales rep access are the usual limits.

Pricing based on revenue or GMV

Many B2B platforms tie the price to the order value you process through them. Shopware, Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce all use your gross merchandise value (GMV) to set your plan or your fees. This keeps the entry price low, but your bill grows as wholesale grows, so ask where the next threshold sits.

Per user or per sales rep

Some tools charge per seat. JOOR prices its Pro plan per user, and SparkLayer charges $39 a month for each sales rep above your plan's limit. With a few reps, agents and an office team, per-seat fees can overtake the base price quickly.

Commission per order

Marketplaces usually charge nothing upfront and take a percentage of each order instead. That works well when the marketplace brings you new retailers. It gets expensive when your existing retailers reorder through it month after month.

Licence plus implementation

Enterprise suites and custom builds often combine a licence with a separate implementation project, run by a partner agency. In the first year, the implementation can cost more than the licence. NuORDER, for example, values its own implementation at $7,500 or more.

What B2B ordering software costs, by type of solution

Native Shopify B2B and wholesale apps

Since 2 April 2026, Shopify includes its core B2B features on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans at no extra cost. You get company profiles, up to three active B2B catalogs, volume pricing and net payment terms. Catalogs assigned to a single company, deposits and partial payments are still Plus-only. Read Shopify wholesale without Shopify Plus for the details.

If you need more on a standard plan, wholesale apps add B2B ordering on top of your store. SparkLayer, for example, costs $49, $149 or $299 a month depending on how many orders you process, plus $39 for each extra sales rep. See how Orderchamp Cloud compares with SparkLayer.

WooCommerce B2B plugins

On WooCommerce, B2B features come from plugins with an annual licence. B2B for WooCommerce costs €133 a year, and B2BKing starts at $199 for the first year on one site. The licence is cheap, but hosting, updates, theme work and developer hours for anything custom are on you. Compare WooCommerce B2B with Orderchamp Cloud.

Dedicated B2B ordering portals

A dedicated B2B ordering portal is software built only for wholesale. Retailers log in, see their own prices and assortment, and reorder on their own. Because it runs as a subscription service (SaaS), there's no development project and no commission on your orders. Pricing in this category is usually published and starts well below ecommerce suites: Orderchamp Cloud starts at €49 a month, with the full suite from €299 a month.

This is the category Orderchamp Cloud's B2B Portal belongs to, and where most growing brands land when they replace Excel for wholesale orders.

Fashion wholesale platforms

Fashion brands that sell seasonal collections often look at JOOR, NuORDER and Brandboom. Brandboom publishes its prices: from $50 a month billed annually for up to 25 products, and from $5,000 a year for its Business plan with API and ERP access. JOOR and NuORDER share prices on request. JOOR prices its Pro plan per user, and says it takes no commission and includes setup fees. Compare the options in 5 JOOR alternatives for wholesale brands, or see JOOR and NuORDER side by side with Orderchamp Cloud.

Shopify Plus

Shopify Plus starts at €2,100 a month on a one- or three-year term. It removes the three-catalog limit and adds company-specific catalogs, deposits and partial payments. It makes sense for D2C-led brands that want wholesale inside the same Shopify admin. For wholesale-first brands, it's a big step up in cost for features a B2B portal includes by default. See Shopify Plus B2B vs Orderchamp Cloud and Shopify Plus B2B limitations.

Enterprise B2B commerce suites

Platforms like Sana Commerce, Adobe Commerce, Spryker, OroCommerce and BigCommerce's B2B Edition are built for distributors and manufacturers with large catalogs and deep ERP integration. Most don't publish prices and quote based on your revenue or order volume. Shopware is an exception: its Rise plan starts at €600 a month, and its B2B features start on Evolve, from €2,400 a month. Expect an implementation partner on top. Compare Orderchamp Cloud with Sana Commerce, Adobe Commerce, Shopware and BigCommerce B2B.

Wholesale marketplaces

Marketplaces such as Faire, Ankorstore and the Orderchamp marketplace charge no monthly fee. Instead, you pay per order, usually as a commission or fee on the order value. The rate depends on the marketplace and on whether it's a first order or a reorder, so check the current terms before you compare. Read how B2B marketplaces work.

Custom build

Building your own B2B portal with an agency gives you full control, but quotes typically run into the tens of thousands of euros before launch, followed by hosting, security updates and a development retainer. It only pays off when your ordering process is unlike anyone else's. More on that in the build vs buy section below.

Hidden costs of B2B ecommerce

Hidden costs of B2B ecommerce beyond the monthly subscription

These are the costs that don't appear on a pricing page but show up in your first year.

  1. Implementation and setup. Enterprise platforms and custom builds can cost more to set up than to run in the first year. Ask for a fixed quote, and check whether onboarding and training are included.

  2. ERP and accounting integrations. Connecting your ERP, accounting or warehouse system can mean a middleware subscription or a developer project. Check which integrations are ready to use. Our guide to API integration for B2B explains the options, and EDI is a separate cost again.

  3. Extra apps and plugins. On general ecommerce platforms, features like customer-specific pricing, quick order forms and rep ordering often come from separate apps, each with its own monthly fee.

  4. Per-user and per-rep fees. A low base price can grow fast once you add sales reps, agents and office staff.

  5. Payment and transaction fees. Card fees, platform fees and payout fees all come off your margin. Shopify, for example, adds a fee of 0.2% to 2% when you use a third-party payment provider, depending on your plan. Read more about wholesale payment terms.

  6. Product data and migration. Getting products, variants, prices and customer data into a new system takes time. Clean wholesale product data makes it a lot faster.

  7. Retailer onboarding and adoption. A portal only saves time if retailers use it. Plan time to invite, approve and support them. Our guide to retailer onboarding shows how.

  8. Admin time that doesn't go away. If orders keep arriving by email, PDF and at trade shows, someone still types them in. That's often the biggest cost of all.

The cost of doing nothing: manual order entry

The most expensive option is often the one that never shows up on an invoice. If your wholesale orders still come in by email, phone, WhatsApp or on paper at trade shows, you're already paying for order software, in staff hours.

Take a brand that receives 200 wholesale orders a month, where each order takes around 12 minutes to read, check against stock, enter and confirm. That's 40 hours a month, or about €1,200 at a loaded cost of €30 an hour, before you count typing errors, wrong deliveries and slower reorders.

That time is what brands win back when they move to a portal. Home decor brand Modeus cut manual orders from more than 50% to under 10% after launching its B2B Portal. Tea brand Arelo now receives 70 to 80% of retailer orders through its portal and cut manual work by 30%. For orders that still arrive by email or PDF, AI Order Convert turns them into orders without retyping.

How to calculate the ROI of B2B ecommerce software

To work out whether a platform pays for itself, compare its total cost with what it saves and earns you.

  1. Add up the total cost of ownership. Subscription or licence, implementation, integrations, apps, extra users and payment fees, over three years.

  2. Estimate the time saved. Multiply the hours of order entry, checking and chasing you'll no longer do by your hourly cost.

  3. Count the errors avoided. Wrong prices and wrong items lead to returns and credit notes, which cost money and goodwill.

  4. Add extra revenue. When retailers can reorder any time without waiting for a rep or an email reply, even a small lift in reorders can cover the subscription.

  5. Divide the cost by the monthly gain to get your payback period in months.

Using the example above: if a €299 a month portal moves 75% of those 200 orders online, you save around 30 hours, or €900 a month. The software pays for itself within the first month, before you count a single extra reorder.

Over three years, the subscription alone looks like this at starting list prices:

Platform

Starting price per month

3 years, subscription only

Orderchamp Cloud Flex

€49 plus a variable fee

€1,764 plus the variable fee

Orderchamp Cloud Fixed

€299

€10,764

Shopify Plus

€2,100

€75,600

Shopware Evolve

€2,400

€86,400

Starting list prices excluding VAT, apps, implementation and payment fees. Orderchamp Cloud is 16% cheaper on yearly billing.

Build vs buy: should you build your own B2B portal?

Building gives you a portal that does exactly what you want, but you also own every bug, update and security patch. For most brands, buying wins on both cost and speed.

  • Buy if your needs are standard wholesale: customer-specific prices, MOQs, payment terms, reorders, sales reps and connections to common ERP systems. You can be live in days or weeks, and the vendor keeps improving the product.

  • Build only if your ordering process is genuinely unique, you have developers in-house, and you're ready to fund maintenance for years.

  • Customise instead. A SaaS portal with your own domain, branding and an API covers most "we need it to be ours" requirements. See how to create your own wholesale webshop.

Subscription vs marketplace commission: when does your own portal pay off?

Marketplace commission feels cheap because there's nothing to pay upfront. The maths changes once retailers start reordering.

To find your break-even point, divide your monthly portal subscription by the commission rate you pay on reorders. Once your monthly reorders pass that amount, every extra euro is margin you keep on a portal that takes no commission.

That doesn't make marketplaces the wrong choice. They're one of the best ways to find new retailers. The setup that works for most brands is both: use a marketplace to win new stockists, and move their reorders to your own branded portal. Orderchamp offers both: the marketplace for new retailers, and Orderchamp Cloud for the retailers you already have.

How much should you budget? A guide by stage

  • Starting wholesale, with a handful of retailers. Native Shopify B2B or an entry-level portal from around €50 a month, plus a marketplace to find your first stockists. Keep fixed costs low until you know wholesale works for you.

  • Growing, with dozens to hundreds of retailers, reps and trade shows. A dedicated B2B portal with a sales app and integrations, typically a few hundred euros a month. This is the stage where manual orders cost the most, so automation pays back fastest. Add an order taking app for your reps and for trade show ordering.

  • Scaling, with several markets, complex pricing and an ERP at the centre. A full suite with custom integration support, or an enterprise platform if you also run large-scale D2C on the same stack. Budget for integrations and a longer rollout, and set up your wholesale pricing strategy before you migrate.

What Orderchamp Cloud costs

Orderchamp Cloud publishes its prices. Every plan includes all B2B features, unlimited business customers and zero commission on your orders, with no setup or development fees.

  • Flex, from €49 a month plus a variable fee. The branded B2B Portal and the Sales App for one user, with self-service onboarding, integrated payments and native integrations.

  • Fixed, from €299 a month. The full Cloud suite, priced by your GMV with no variable fees. It adds unlimited Sales App users, AI Order Convert, Dropship Automation, personal onboarding and support, and help with custom ERP, PIM and WMS integrations.

Yearly billing saves 16%. Integrated payments run at published rates, from €0.13 for a SEPA transfer to 1.19% plus €0.10 for an EU consumer card. Orderchamp Cloud connects to over 60 tools, including Exact Online, Shopify and WooCommerce.

When natural personal care brand The Lekker Company compared its options, Orderchamp Cloud came out at around a tenth of the price of Shopify Plus. Read their story.

Final verdict: what should B2B ecommerce cost you?

For most wholesale brands that sell to independent retailers, a dedicated B2B portal is the best value: published pricing from €49 a month, no commission, and none of the implementation costs of an enterprise suite. Shopify Plus and enterprise platforms make sense when you need B2B and large-scale D2C on one stack and have the budget to match. Marketplaces are worth their commission for new retailers, not for reorders.

Whatever you choose, compare the total cost over three years rather than the monthly fee, and count the hours you'll stop spending on manual orders.
